Short Bio
My name is Johanna. I live in California, San Francisco, Bay area, with my two kids and Husband, and I’m completely obsessed with painting. Creating art grounds me, challenges me, and connects me to something deeper than words can express. It’s not just a practice, it’s a vital part of my emotional and spiritual well-being. Painting every day has become a way to process, reflect, and stay present. Art is where I feel most alive and most myself.
Artist Statement
As both a psychologist and a visual artist, I’m fascinated by the balance between structure and chaos, between what we try to control and what needs to flow freely. My abstract paintings are a reflection of this tension. I work intuitively, allowing each piece to evolve naturally, often blending fluid shapes with sharper lines, muted tones with bold contrasts. Art has become not just a passion, but a space where I can explore emotions, hold contradictions, and create something meaningful out of the unpredictable.
